Speaking Up

The only way to gain the confidence to speak up during a meeting is to practice.  Come join other women and speak up in a casual, controlled, and small group setting so you are better prepared to speak during a meeting.

We would like to give each person the option to Speak Up and say whatever they would like, for up to five minutes, or just to be a supportive member of the group.  Whether it be leading a meeting, speaking up for yourself, taking part in a discussion, or bringing up a problem, each of them has their own challenges and we want you to have a safe place to work them out.

If you would be interested in Speaking Up, please let us know.  If you know what you would like to speak about, even better, we would love to get a short description (up to ten words), so that we can make sure people spread out the topics.

Possible topics:

• Equal treatment in the workplace

• Construction detailing

• Not interrupting while someone is speaking

• Drafting

• Working as a tradesperson

• Women’s safety gear

• How to act onsite

• Standing up for yourself

We are limiting this event to 25 women to allow everyone to have a chance to Speak Up if they would like.
