Introduction to Welding

Description

Welding is everywhere and you don’t have to look far to find something you use, walk on, or work in that has been welded together by a welder. Welding is on the transportation you take, such as a bike, car, or bus; on furniture you use; equipment at your gym; on playgrounds; commercial and residential buildings; and includes custom fabrications to mass manufactured items. While there are various forms of welding processes, we will have an introduction to the basics of welding, specifically Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) commonly known as Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding. This presentation will walk you through typical welding equipment, consumables, set-up, modes of transfer, weld discontinuities, and how to weld a T-joint in vertical, horizontal, and overhead fillet joints. You will be provided with the information you need to let the sparks fly and understand welding at a higher level. Additionally, a perspective on tradeswoman and how training and education through CWIT can become an amazing career path.
